Terms of service
Last updated November 7, 2026
These terms cover the use of CurbCause, at curbcause.com and in the CurbCause apps. CurbCause is operated by Horine Tech LLC (“we”). By using CurbCause you agree to them. Questions go to hello@curbcause.com.
What CurbCause is
CurbCause is software that Scout units and similar groups (“units”) use to run pickup-based donation fundraisers. Each fundraiser is run by its unit, not by CurbCause. The unit decides its pickup area, dates, suggested donation and how it handles missed pickups.
For residents
- Signing up asks the unit to pick up at your address on the day you choose. Follow the put-out instructions shown when you sign up. Pickups are done by volunteers and can be missed or delayed by weather, safety or other reasons.
- Donations are gifts to the unit and are paid straight to the unit’s own Stripe or PayPal account. Questions about a donation, receipts or refunds go to the unit. Whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the unit and its chartered organization.
- Give accurate information, and only sign up addresses you are allowed to arrange a pickup for.
For units
- Units pay for CurbCause per fundraiser season, plus any usage beyond the included allowance, at the prices shown when they buy. CurbCause takes no fee from donations. Payment processors charge their own fees to the unit.
- Units are responsible for their fundraiser, for following Scouting America’s fundraising and youth protection rules, for the people they give access to, and for the messages they send through CurbCause.
- Units may only email people who signed up for their fundraiser or otherwise agreed to hear from them.
- A unit’s data belongs to the unit. A unit can export it or ask us to delete it.
Acceptable use
Don’t misuse CurbCause: no attempts to break in, overload the service, send spam, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend access that puts the service or other people at risk.
The service
We work to keep CurbCause available and accurate, but it is provided “as is”, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, Horine Tech LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for pickups, donations or disputes between residents and units.
Privacy
How information is handled is described in the privacy policy.
Changes
If these terms change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use CurbCause after a change means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon.
